Can I just trust last year's cutoff list to build my choices?

Please don't — that's the costliest shortcut in TNEA. Real 2024→2025 OC swings: Dhaanish Ahmed Institute's CSE-AIML jumped 102 → 166.5; Tittagudi Sengunthar's EEE jumped 117 → 171; Immanuel Arasar's IT rose 109.5 → 163.5 while the same college's AI & DS fell 181.5 → 132; Trichy Engineering College's Civil fell 158.5 → 102. A student who trusted 2024's numbers alone would have called some of these "safe" and been badly wrong. Protect yourself three ways: read multiple years of cutoffs and look for the trend, not one point; treat any college with wild swings as unpredictable regardless of last year's figure; and spread your 100 choices so no single misjudged college can sink you.
